While Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park is the official name of this vast green area, it is mostly unknown by this denomination and better referred to as IOR Park (taking from the nearby factory named “Întreprinderea Optică Română”). This park is also referred to as the Titan Park sometimes from the name of its lake and surrounding district. While you might not need to know all the names of the park, it is an interesting tid-bit of an information to bear in mind while asking for directions. IOR park offers a refreshing getaway to the residents of the east part of Bucharest with its it's developed verdant spread over a surface of 85 hectares. A great part of this area is covered by the Titan lake―a water basin of natural origin with five small islands that is possible to explore mainly by boat. A carriageable road divides in two parts the lake and the park itself, almost creating two separated sections with different functions. While you will find the north side more developed and with many services for the young population, the southern part is more natural and the favored side for older guests.
