Located in downtown Zagreb, the Botanical Garden is another peaceful spot in the centre of the capital. The garden was founded in 1889 by Professor Antun Heinz, as part of the Faculty of Science. The Botanical Garden is home to over 10,000 plants of different species from around the world. The 5 ha of green space covers rock gardens, lily covered ponds, French-inspired flowerbeds and 10 glasshouses. There are well laid trails inside the garden lined with exotic plants. The trails are lined with benches under shaded trees. The Botanical Gardens is the best place to take a break after an outing on a hot summer day. Take a stroll in the lush green space and soak in the serenity in the centre of Zagreb.
