Among the many holy places in Somnath, Bhalka Teerth deserves a special mention. Located between Somnath and Veraval, it is at this spot that Lord Krishna received a fatal wound from the arrow of a hunter; he happened to be resting under a pipal tree at that time. Lord Krishna pardons the hunter but goes on to Dehotsarg, four kilometre from this spot to finally depart for his heavenly abode. A temple has been constructed besides this pipal tree with sculptural depictions of the hunter asking for Krishna’s forgiveness. This spot is under redevelopment with the assistance of the Central Government of India. There are no resting and parking places at this mythological spot.
