Explore the beauty of an ancient Egyptian temple – Templo de Debod is one of the most unusual attractions in Madrid. Located inside the Parque de la Montaña, Templo de Debod is an authentic Egyptian temple dedicated to gods Amon and Isis. The original temple existed in Egypt, in south of Aswan since 2nd century BC, before being relocated to Spain in 1968. Many historical monuments were in danger of being flooded in Aswan valley during the construction of Aswan Dam. Spain helped Egypt in relocating some of its important archaeological sites. The Temple of Debod was a gift from the Egyptian government in return of the assistance provided by Spain. The temple has been preserved and reconstructed in its original glory in Mountain Park in Madrid. The unique design of the temple portrays a long processional way passing under three stone archways which leads to the main temple. The main chamber contains the sanctuary of Amun, where only high priests were allowed. The temple is quite unique in its appearance compared to anything in Europe. Visiting the temple is an opportunity to admire one of the rare ancient Egyptian architectures outside Egypt.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
