The jhumka, weighing over 200 kg, was installed in the city this Saturday. The massive piece of jewellery is also embedded with myriad colourful stones and one can also see the name of the city embroidered on it with Bareilly’s famous zari.
The concept of developing a jhumka architecture in the city was conceived by the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA). It was like adding an attraction to the city for the tourists.
The jhumka structure was unveiled in the city by the Union Minister and local MP Santosh Gangwar. This 14 ft high structure is installed at the zero point on National Highway 24 in Bareilly in the Parsakhera region.
The minister during the inauguration said, “The collaborative effort made by the authority, various organisations and local residents in setting up the ambitious jhumka in Bareilly is commendable. It looks beautiful and unique. Visitors will finally be able to associate the landmark jhumka in Bareilly with the evergreen song."
The project costs INR 18 lakh, INR 8 lakh for the jhumka and INR 10 lakh for the region beautiful.
