According to local news reports, 23 people have died (as per current news), and nearly 1500 houses have been completely destroyed alone in New South Wales (since September 2019, starting of the fire). The entire state and country is now struggling to combat the deadly wildfire that has taken a more destructive shape. Foreign countries including the United Nations have jumped in to help Australia deal with the deadly situation.
The prime reason for the bushfire is climate change along with persistent heat and drought season.

The situation is worst in New South Wales as the state has been hardest hit. From wooded regions and green parks and national parks, everything here is burning or is burned by now. Australia's prime cities such as Melbourne and Sydney too are affected by the fires as there is a thick blanket of smoke.
In December 2019, Sydney’s air quality measured 11 times the "hazardous" level.
