Preparations in full swing for Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations at Ranganathaswamy Temple starting Dec 26

The Arulmigu Ranganathaswamy Temple management committee has started initial preparations for celebrating the Vaikunta Ekadasi Festival, which is to begin from December 26, 2019.
According to the reports, the Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE) department close to Thaayar shrine and Vellai gopuram will be taking care of queue management so that every pilgrim is able to have darshan in a smooth way.

Vaikunta Ekadasi is a special festival for the Vaishnava (Lord Vishnu) devotees that falls in the Tamil month Margazhi (December-January. HR&CE officials told the press that the festival will continue for 22 days and start with Thirunedunthandakam on December 26.
On January 16 that happens to be the final day, the festival will end with the Nammalvar Motcham. The Paramapathavasal will open on January 6, 2020. The Srirangam temple is believed to be the best of all 108 Divya Desam temples. It is estimated that about 30000 people will attend the festival. On the day of opening itself, the HR&CE officials are expecting 5 lakh people to be in attendance.


A temporary queue management infrastructure is being put up next to the temple corridors. Meanwhile, the residents of Srirangam, considering illegal encroachments near the entry gate of Srirangam temple such as the Ranga Ranga gopuram entrance, have approached the HR&CE department as well as the Trichy Corporation to remove the encroachments.

Formerly, the Panthakkal Naduthal ritual, which is conducted before the Vaikunta Ekadasi Festival was performed at the Srirangam Temple a few days ago. The temple is located 14 km from the city of Mysore in Karnataka.
