Assam Tourism Department to open 28 homestays on World Tourism Day

As many as 28 homestays would be officially opened for tourists and visitors on World Tourism Day, i.e., on September 27 in Assam. The home stays built under the Amar Alohi project of Assam Tourism, will be opened near tourist hotspots, such as Manas National Park, Kaziranga National Park, Majuli, and Dibru Saikhowa National Park.
As per latest news reports, the ceremonial programme will be followed by a cultural evening, which will be about exploring various traditional, ethnic, and cultural forms of Assam.
Apart from this, Assam Tourism is also working aggressively to popularise the historic Rass Mahotsav of Majuli. Majuli is popular for being the world’s largest river island. While speaking to the media, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah said that the historic Raas Mahotsav would be further promoted through electronic, print, and social media in a move to promote both domestic and international tourism.
He added that the state is preparing to promote and brand the Raas Mahotsav internationally and nationally on the lines of the Ambubachi Mela of Kamakhya, the logo of which will be officially launched during World Tourism Day. On this day, the department has also lined up some activities, in which students from tourism and hospitality institutes have been invited to take part in open quiz competitions.
The tourism department had already hosted write-up, photography, and short film competitions, mainly to promote the tradition and culture of Assam. Winners of those competitions will also be awarded during this occasion.
