A very famous and popular city in the Indian state of Maharashtra, Nagpur is a growing metropolis and an upcoming Smart City, as proposed by the Government. It is the third largest city in Maharashtra and is a very prominent destination when it comes to Indian socio-cultural milieu. The city is home to many tourist attractions. The places to visit in Nagpur are varied in nature and are bound to keep you hooked to the city for a good amount of time. Pay a visit to Seminary Hill, not just a city highlight but a tourist destination in itself the moment you reach Nagpur. A small hillock located 6 kms away from the city limits; Seminary Hill is a local favourite for a laid back outing. The hill is home to many tourist places, one of them is the seminary of St. Charles. The foothill of this place has a Japanese garden which attracts many to it. One can also find solace at Lourd Mata Church or Grotto of Our Lady which is also located on the hill. The presence of Telankhedi Hanuman Temple and Satpura Botanical Garden make Seminary Hill even more important as a tourist destination. Air Force office, CGO Complex and the Nagpur TV Tower are also established here. Once on top, you can have mesmerising views of the city below. The dense wilderness of Seminary Hill is ideal for a morning walk or a jogging session.
Nature lovers in Nagpur must pay a visit to Ambazari Lake. With a coverage area of 15 kms, this lake is the largest of its kind in the city. Nagpur has many lakes but this one takes the prize! A massive and stunning water body, Ambazari Lake is situated on the southwest border of Nagpur. The presence of rare flora and fauna makes it a haven for nature lovers. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is in charge of the maintenance of this lake. Take a boat ride here and spend a lazy evening on its banks. Ambazari Garden is the adjacent garden that adds more natural setting to the lake. Sri Balaji Karthikeyan Temple is another prominent Nagpur sightseeing point. Lord Balaji and Lord Kartikeya (also known as Muruga) are the main deities of this shrine. Located on top of Seminary Hill, this temple has a very calming effect on the visitors.
