All about ‘Vessel’, New York’s latest architectural marvel inspired by Indian stepwells

‘Vessel’, as they are calling it, is all set to become New York’s biggest architectural marvel! And one of the best parts of this gorgeous, grand structure is that it is inspired by the ancient and the very famous Indian stepwells. This colossal sculpture is a 150 ft high metal structure, shaped like a bowl and is being touted as the mall for the rich people.

About Vessel
A project of New York City's Hudson Yards development, Vessel is the brainchild of the renowned British designer Thomas Heatherwick. You’ll be amazed to the latticed network of stairs with 2,500 steps and yes, you can climb on it absolutely for free! The idea behind was to make it a communal gathering place, just like the amphitheatres they have in Rome. The individual parts of this amazing structure were prepared in Italy and shipped to New York.


From Vessel, one can enjoy some breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Hudson River and the lovely gardens around. It is a landmark that people can climb onto and enjoy the natural views New York City has to offer.
The entry to this gorgeousness would be free and visitors can experience it between 10 AM to 9 PM every day. Besides, those interested can also book an hour-long slot online to climb all those 2500 steps.
