On our winter time trip to New Zealand, of particular interest was the small ‘French town’ of Akaroa on the Banks Peninsula just over an hour from Christchurch. A cruise on Akaroa Harbour was brilliant for the pleasant winter weather, lack of passengers on such a large, comfortable boat, magnificent scenery and of course the wonderful wildlife on display which included, birds, seals and a playfully cute Hector's Dolphin; the world's smallest dolphin.
