There are numerous mysteries in the world, and the Cathedral of Salamanca’s astronaut is one such. Cathedral of Salamanca is actually two churches joined together, one dates back to the 12th‒13th centuries, while the newer one dates back to the 16th century. Besides its glories as architectural marvels, the two churches are also known for something mysterious, i.e., astronaut carvings on its wall. While most of its carvings are unique, there is one that everyone is fixated on, and that is the figure of an astronaut. But how is it possible for a cathedral that was built in the 12th century to have one of modern man’s finest achievements carved on its body?
While many claim that the aliens are involved in this, or it is in fact the work of a time traveller, the mystery was soon unveiled, and it is not so mysterious after all.
That is not all, as the artist even included figure of a dragon eating an ice-cream, a lynx, a bull, a stork, a rabbit, and a crayfish. So don’t be surprised if you happen to go there sometime during your journey through Spain, and do correct anyone who tells you about this supposed mystery.
