Latest reports suggest that trains that have begun to operate as per schedule, including the Dehradun Shatabdi, Rapti -Ganga, Nanda Devi, Doon Naini Express and Mussoorie Express. Notably, the Ujjaini Express and Upasana trains that operate through the Dehradun station remain cancelled due to foggy weather conditions.
Initially, train movements faced inconvenience at the station as parts of the construction were still left, with officials assuring of things turning smooth very soon.
Reports suggest that the length of all five platforms has been increased by 630 m to accommodate trains around 18 to 20 coaches in the renovated station. While old tracks have been replaced, a third platform has also been added.
Also, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has taken up station redevelopment work at various railway stations across the country, as part of the station beautification and redevelopment work. As per the said program, several stations including Dimapur, Jaipur, Salem, Nagaland, and Durgapur have been renovated by introducing high-end and passenger-friendly amenities. The Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) is further working to revamp the existing stations to turn them into world-class hubs.
