There is a new Mona Lisa in a museum in Bristol, United Kingdom, but not the kind you would expect. This is a life-size statue of Mona Lisa, created and imagined by sculptor Nick Walker. The new piece of art is called The Mooning Mona Lisa, and is the result of an art challenge by fellow artist Bansky. Bansky reportedly had said that there is nothing more than could be done with the Mona Lisa.
The Mona Lisa is an iconic painting by Leonardo da Vinci, hanging in the Louvre Paris. Historians believe that the painting is a portrait of Madam Lisa Giocondo, who was the wife of a wealthy Florentine. The painting is one of the most recognisable in the world, and is certainly one of da Vinci’s greatest creations. Now the all new Mona Lisa statue is making heads turn around the world.
The Mooning Mona Lisa, or the Mooning Lisa has her bare backside revealed. The term mooning means to expose one’s backside to someone so as to amuse or insult the person. That is exactly what the Mona Lisa statue seems to be doing.
Like Bansky, Nick Walker is a big name in the Bristol street art scene, and this new sculpture has certainly made him world-famous.
