At a restaurant in Chennai, diners willing to have taste of prison food are given a warm welcome and due hospitality by the wait staff who are none other than the ‘jailers’!
The entrance of the restaurant is a large jail gate, and the interiors comprise eight air-conditioned prison cells outfitted with dining tables and chairs! Objects like handcuffs, huge locks on the doors of the prison cells, red lights and the works are fixed at due places to give an authentic look to this ‘jail’.
An amusing aspect of this restaurant is the neatly-dressed jailers who speak politely and take up the orders from the customers. Later, the food is served by the genteel prisoners who are actually the in-house service staff.
If the décor and the staff are interesting enough, the food doesn’t fail either. Already, the food has become a hit among the locals who thrive on the traditional Tamilian fare in day to day life.
What else, the food is in all likelihood is not cooked in aluminium utensils which is a huge plus!
Going by the positive response this restaurant has received from the public, the owners have already opened another brand in Kolkata. And, there are more branches coming up soon in other Indian cities.
