The calm ocean seems almost like a blue carpet. Flanked by mountains on one side and a few rocks scattered in the distance, the waves hitting the shores of this beach are gentle and quiet. Lifeguards, perched on a watch tower, nonetheless remain alert on duty. On one end, a string of colourful boats remain anchored, lending a rusty feel to the beach. There are two ways to reach this beach. You can hop on to a bus for a ten minutes ride to Baina from the town centre and walk for a few minutes to breathe in the fresh sea breeze. You could very well rent a private ride directly to the beach, where a few vendors sell snacks like bhelpuri and chicken shawarma. The other route is roughly a 30 minute hike from the Japanese Garden. Once you cross the National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (a restricted facility), you begin the descent on the mountain wall of the ocean. The view of the shimmering blue carpet and Baina Beach from this higher ground makes it a worthy hike. A must-visit this.
