Dragon Mountain

After a light lunch, you are now ready for a climb to the Dragon Mountain. The foothill of the Ham Rong or the Dragon Mountain is not far from the Sapa church. It will be a moderate climb to the mountain. The name Ham Rong or the Dragon comes from the fact that the centre of the mountain range is a rock formation that resembles like a dragon head. The Vietnamese people believe on the legends and the myths that they are the descendants from the dragon and supernatural. There are many myths surrounding the Dragon Mountain. Ask your guide to tell you some of the fairy tales. When climbing up the mountain, observe the beautiful exotic flowers along the path. Spring is the best time to see the galaxy of the beautiful flowers and variety of orchids. While climbing to the peak of the Ham Rong Mountain, stop for a rest to the Heaven Gates 1 & 2. Take a deep breath, enjoy the beauty around you and take some photos. Finally, climb up to the San May peak at 1800 m altitude and watch the breathtaking beauty of the Sapa town far below. If the day is nice, you will be able to see the peak of the Fansipan Mountain at a distance, which is the tallest mountain in Vietnam. Cherish the beauty before turning around and start climbing down.
