The IGI Airport has seen a 30 percent rise in international passengers in the past two years, and this has caused longer queues at immigration desks. With an increase in tourism, medical tourism and business tourism, Indian is witnessing a surge in tourist arrivals. The immigration officials hiring initiative would lead to a comfortable immigration service at the airport.
As per reports from airport officials, currently passengers spend approximately 90 seconds at the immigration counter. The new appointments at the IGI Airport immigration desk will see this time reduced to 20 seconds. By the end of this month, the Ministry is planning to increase immigration counters from 85 to 95.
Also, 25 new electronic visa counters would be functional by January end.
