Luxury dining, safari style
Word to the wise: One of the few good restaurants in Delhi open 24 hours, Machan is the place for foodie night owls.
'Machans' were raised platforms built atop trees for game hunting princes. The seating arrangements at Machan are alas more conventional, but the restaurant's decor reflects a safari theme.
Don't imagine a novelty restaurant, though. Machan is very swish - after all, it's located in the Taj Mahal Hotel, one of the city's best - and is a regular haunt for many of Delhi's movers and shakers.
Food-wise, it's all about fine, international fare with a smattering of southeast Asian, some French dishes and a few carefully chosen Indian bites. The Sunday brunch is very good, with free-flowing martinis, Moet champagne and caviar.
