Alfresco, Mediterranean dining in a charming green space

Word to the wise: If you come here at night, be sure to slather on the mosquito repellent. You may not see the bugs, but they are there.

Tipple of choice: Try a glass of Indian Sauvignon Blanc from the Sula vineyards - with notes of flowers, herbs and honey, it's a lovely, light-bodied drop.

Situated on the edge of Lodi Gardens, the location of this smart restaurant cannot be bettered. Lodi also has a varied menu, substantial wine list and a pretty, lantern-strewn setting. Fine wrought-iron furniture and good service add to the experience.

The menu is Mediterranean, with a dash of Middle Eastern spice, and the pasta dishes are particularly good. An excellent mid-range choice for both couples and groups, Lodi is particularly busy on summer evenings.
