Remembering Mahatma Gandhi
This moving museum displays memorabilia related to the life of Mohandas K Gandhi, better known in India as simply Mahatma (Great Soul). It was at this large colonial bungalow (formerly known as Birla House) that he spent the last 144 days of his life, and in 1973 the government declared it the official Gandhi national memorial.
Here you can visit Gandhi's prayer room and bedroom and view his humble belongings, including his glasses and walking stick. Concrete footprints mark his last steps to the garden. The upper floors contain an interesting multi-media collection, complete with a number of documentaries which can be viewed on request.
