Cycling in Amsterdam is something all travellers look forward to; after all, the city is known as an ideal cycling destination. Amsterdam cycling policies have helped to shape it as a pro-biking city, and now it is planning to reduce its parking spots in the next six years. Meant to start on July 1, 2019, the policy of reduced parking spots in the city will aim to strengthen its reputation as a pro-biking city.
According to statements released by city officials, the idea is to make Amsterdam easily accessible and livable. With more green spaces in the city, and cleaner air, and public safes, Amsterdam aims to set the bar at an all-time high. Biking in the city is extremely popular, but now by clearing parking spots, the city is aiming to add more bike lanes and enlarge sidewalks. Also, the number of green plants and trees would also be increased.
Of course, the city’s quality of air would definitely increase, and so would its overall beauty. Lesser cars also means lesser honks, and strolling by the city’s canals would also be a special experience.
