The Little Mermaid sat silently at the edge of the water, on a little rock probably wondering why the tourists were making a fuss about her. She was so petite and charming, although a wee bit melancholic. Immortalised by Hans Christian Andersen, she has become the symbol of Copenhagen today. I stood on the rocks waiting for my turn to pose with her. Cruises sailed past her as everyone went shutter crazy. She however was lost looking away from the melee, towards the sea, perhaps looking for her handsome prince. I started my day in Copenhagen with a tete a tete with her, remembering the fairy tale that used to be my bed time story during my childhood. But there is more to Copenhagen than nostalgia and this tiny mermaid. There are castles, palaces, gardens, design stores, amusement parks, cruises, biking tours and of course, beer! So if you are looking at squeezing Copenhagen in three days, here are my suggestions on what you must not miss.
