A favorite among vegetarians and non-veggies alike, Anchan Vegetarian Restaurant claims that it’s “so delicious, you won’t miss the meat” – and rightfully so. Situated at the end of a quiet soi (small street) off of Nimmanhaemin Road on the west side of the city, the family-owned restaurant serves classic and innovative Thai vegetarian dishes that even meat lovers can get behind. The welcoming restaurant offers a changing weekly menu and ensures that all of its dishes are completely fresh and made from scratch, with local, in-season ingredients and are completely vegetarian. The menu also features a wide range of vegan dishes and clearly highlights which dishes are vegetarian or vegan.
Though many find it difficult to choose a just one preferred dish, a good problem to have, some of the most talked about dishes include the appetizer of lightly fried butterfly pea blossoms (yes – deep fried flowers!), pumpkin stir fried with egg, crispy banana flower Thai salad, tempeh Thai basil stir fry and, of course, green curry. Drooling yet? The owners also produce their own selection of jams, preserves and tea made with organic, pesticide-free ingredients that are available for purchase to take back home with you.tempeh Thai basil stir fry and, of course, green curry.
