Aroma of freshly baked confectionery captivates your senses (surely in a good way) as you enter this casual dining café oozing with the personal touch of its Australia trained baker-owner. The owner’s love for the Land Down Under is visible everywhere including the design of the menu. Nik opens for breakfast at 8 am and offers delicious waffles with assorted toppings to choose from, the fluffiest ham and chicken omelettes, and the ‘Brownie Blast Shake’ is hard to resist. The gems covered cookie is my personal favourite though the strong hearted can try Irish Baileys or Cognac chocolate bombs, you’ll love the liquor treacle centre of these chocolate balls unconditionally.

The exotic collection of cakes and bakes is what makes Nik’s stand apart from other cafes in town, so much so that die-hard fans have labelled the place as ‘the bakery capital’. The display is as interesting as the endless list of bakery products and makes you salivate even with full stomach. The portions are refreshingly generous though the savoury menu is limited and the ambience is nonchalant, nothing to eulogise about. The place is a popular hang-out for groups and not recommended for formal dine-outs. Take away and home delivery is available. Nik Baker’s, owing to its popularity, is spreading its wings and has opened multiple outlets in Chandigarh.
