Take a ferry and head to this little Sainte-Marguerite Island where a famous prisoner was held for many years. The story of the Man in the Iron Mask is set in this island. Was he a real prisoner or just a figment of the imagination? Was he of noble birth? No one had seen his face and apparently it took him 11 years to escape the island. You can see his cell and a museum called Musee de la Mer (Museum of the Sea), where shipwrecked discoveries are displayed.
