The Fairmont Palliser was built in 1914, and stands today as one of the best places to stay and eat in all of Calgary. If you can’t afford the hefty room price (although we think it’s worth it), why not head to the hotel for a special romantic dinner. Start off in the Oak Room – the cocktail lounge, where many Calgarians can be seen after work before heading home. Expert mixologists can master a classic cocktail while you marvel the historic furnishings. The romance just starts in the Oak Room but really heats up in the main restaurant, The Rim Rock. Here, chefs will take you on a romantic foodie journey that will leave you wanting more. A prohibition theme whisks guests here back into the golden era and luxury food is at the forefront. Open most Thursday nights, and every Friday and Saturday night, we suggest making a recommendation before heading out. Think truffle mac and cheese with lobster, Alberta beef, house smoked brisket and more. Finish off with one of the in-house desserts and you won’t be disappointed.
