Zamalek is a party district of Cairo, an island in the middle of Nile. The streets of Zamalek are lined by variety of pubs, bars and restaurants. It is dotted with various art galleries and museums. The island houses famous Modern Cairo Opera House and is connected with the mainland by 3 bridges over the Nile. Zamalek is also a posh neighbourhood of Cairo with many embassies and upscale residential complexes occupying the area. Some of the world-class international hotels are located in downtown Zamalek. It has some of the finest restaurants overlooking the Nile. The narrow lanes of Zamalek are known to be crowded and you can spot the worst traffic jams of Cairo in this stylish downtown. It is advisable to take a Felucca ride to Zamalek and walk around congested streets instead of taking taxis.
