Izvor Park has some of the best views of the most famous landmark of the Romanian Capital, the Palace of the Parliament. This is the reason why it’s included in our list of suggested parks to visit, even if it might not be one of the most appealing gardens in Bucharest.

Izvor Park has a look of a newly realized facility, in fact, it's one of the most recent parks. Under the program of “communist systematization” a big part of the historical center that was destroyed during the dictatorship, including the medieval buildings found in the area as well as ancient heritage from the bronze age, were torn down to make space for the construction of a big conference hall. The building was never built because of the fall of the “Pseudo-Communist” Regime and the abandoned space was later dedicated to the realization of Izvor Park.

Being rather new, it offers unobstructed views of the Parliament situated close-by. Thankfully, the recently planted trees are still not big enough to block the horizon, although once these are tall enough, you might have to stretch your self a bit for the captivating views. While this 17 hectare area does not offer any special highlights by itself, it's still a popular park where locals can come to walk their dogs, practice sports and unleash their kids in modern playgrounds.

Izvor Park is easily accessed by public transportation from the Metro station Izvor, or on foot from Piata Unirii and Cismigiu Gardens.
