They take pride in using natural organic materials such as wool, silk and alpaca to make cloth material. They also claim to be the only factory that both knits and sews everything in-house.

Oleana was founded in 1992 when Norway was losing on textile trade and employment. Apart from being an eco-friendly business, producing good quality and reasonably priced garments in an expensive country like Norway is one of the goals of this brand. They wish to preserve the Norwegian knitting tradition and folk costumes, which is effortlessly reflected in most of their creations. Another interesting fact about them is that their designer, Solveig Hisdal, is the person who has designed all of their creations till date.

Oleana’s brand shop is located at Strandkaien in Bergen city centre and opposite to Torget Fish Market. You can also visit their factory which is in Ytre Anna if you wish to shop from the factory outlet. The best part is that you can also see the garment production process in the plant and Oleana is very much open about it.
