The promenade is situated in Zemun, the most beautiful residential neighbourhood of Belgrade, which is located next to the Danube River. The area lined with cobblestoned streets is soaked in history. Like Belgrade, Zemun has seen several occupations in its 2000 years old history. It rose as an important harbour on the Vienna-Istanbul river trade route in medieval times. Gardoš Hill is the heart of Zemun. The centre is dotted with fine bistros and has a sort of Bohemian appeal like Skadarlija. The Millennium Tower at the centre of Gardoš Hill is dedicated to a Hungarian hero; it was erected to celebrate 1000 years of Hungarian ruling. The shaded cobbled streets of Zemun overlooking the Danube are the highlight of the visit. The promenade lined with restaurants and cafe provides a great vantage point over the scenic expanse of the river. Stroll around Zemun promenade and feel the fresh breeze coming from the Danube. Enjoy a great fish meal at one of the restaurants. An evening over great food and a great view of the Danube with Belgrade across the river is going to leave lasting impressions!
