Comic book junkies will have a field day at Cartoonmuseum Basel which attempts to trace the history of cartoon. It is the only one such museum in Switzerland devoted to narrative drawing. The museum has an impressive collection of over 6000 original works by national and international artists, though mostly German. On display are excerpts from comics, cartoons, graphic novels, satirical drawings and even animated movies, covering a wide range of topics and genres. The museum also continues to engage in the debate about the art of narrative drawing with curated shows of a single artist or on a specific theme.
