Hot? Have a horchata

Word to the wise: Turrón - nougat - is a big deal in Barcelona: it can seem like there's a shop on every corner. Being flat and compact, it makes a good present to take home.

Horchata is a drink made from almonds, water and sugar - and much tastier than that might sound. Although more common in central and south America, it has a following in Spain too, and an ice-cold glass can be just the ticket on a sticky day.

This small chain of cafes deliver the horchata goods - witness the queues outside - as well as excellent ice creams, ice-lemon drinks and turrón. Basically, if it's sweet, refreshing and bad for your teeth, you'll find it here - although there are sugar-free versions for diabetics, too.
