When in Bangkok, you can eat to your heart’s content without burning a hole in your pocket—the streetfood here is delicious, fresh, and available at all times of the day and night. And although you’ll find stalls on every street corner, here are the spots you should head to when you’re really ravenous. Over 200 years ago, streetfood in Thailand first cropped up in Chinatown (also referred to as Yaowarat by locals), and to this day it’s a foodie’s delight. From stalls and carts to markets and restaurants, there are hundreds of options to choose from, and everything’s extremely cheap. As an alternative (when you want a break from all the Thai food you’ve been gorging on) the ethnic neighbourhood of Pahurat—referred to as Little India and located just between Chinatown and the river—is a good place for some Thai-adapted Indian food at humble prices.
