Bangkok at a glance

SIGHTSEEING, BANGKOK Updated : Sep 15, 2014, 04.09 PM IST

Bangkok at a glance
Bangkok is a unique, almost contradictory amalgamation of old and new; of modern and historic. To the visitor who’s spent a day trawling the malls in glitzy Siam Square, it’s an unreal experience to have dinner in the old town of Ko Ratakinosin, or explore Thonburi in a long-tailed boat. Spending a frenetic evening pub-hopping in Sukumvit can be easily recovered from by spending a languorous day exploring the leafy quiet suburb of Dusit. An authentic Chinese meal in Chinatown can be followed by dinner in the adjoining Indian locale of Phahurat. Bangkok is a complex multi-layered city, and here’s a brief overview of it’s very distinctive neighbourhoods.
