Bangkok's architecturally challenging miniature high-rise

Popular plate: It might not sound particularly authentic, but the Wagyu beef short ribs at the Hotel's French-inspired restaurant Eve are spot-on.

Word to the wise: Although relatively low at only 19 floors, the view from the Sky Terrace is still well worth a gander.

Located close to Siam Square in the exclusive Ratchaprasong district of the city, the recent addition of Hansar brings yet more high-ceilinged and high-aiming luxury to an already over-achieving area. The glass and chrome frontage of this architecturally impressive hotel could easily be lost in the background of Bangkok's urban landscape were it not for a protruding mid-level swimming pool and distinctive ivy-covered walls—an indication of the bold design choices made inside.

Each suite boasts distinctive features: the aptly titled 'vertigo' and 'edge' suites come complete with cantilevered bedrooms, while the 'urban' suite has an indoor garden, and the cerebral 'duplex' suites feature double-height floor-to-ceiling windows and bookcases.
