Dedicated to one of the most important characters from the Hindu epic Ramayana, Sugreeva Venkateshwara Temple on Balepet Main Road in Bangalore holds great religious importance. The temple features a six feet tall statue of Sugreeva, the monkey king and a good friend of Lord Rama, in a folded hand position. A casual glance at the idol would make you think it’s of Lord Hanuman but on closer look, you’ll notice two teeth sticking out of the mouth, which distinguishes Sugreeva from Lord Hanuman. In addition, in the sanctum sanctorum or garbhagriha of the shrine, there is an idol of Lord Venkateshwara on a pedestal.
