This one is a lovely lunch spot in Ubud, much of an institution in town where both locals as well as tourists go to get the local specialties. The Balinese-style roast babi giling (suckling pig), which isn’t available in the rest of the country, is a must-have here. The pigs are stuffed with a mixture of spices and then cooked slowly on a spit and open fire. The pigs aren’t roasted on the spot, but they are delivered regularly and once there sliced up and served with large portions of rice, spicy vegetables and a secret sauce. The pork is soft and moist and the cracklings delicious. It is dirt cheap too. The environment is rather informal and relaxed, and service incredibly good and fast. Overall, it is a fantastic place to try the local cuisine. Ibu Oka Warung is located opposite the former Royal Palace and close to the market, in the heart of the tourist area. It opens at around 10:30 AM and tables fill up quickly.
