Amravati all set to host Formula 1 Powerboat Racing World Championship

Amravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, is all set to host the much-awaited powerboat racing of the year—Formula 1 Powerboat Racing (F1H20) World Championship. The event is making a comeback after almost a decade.
This world championship is scheduled to take place from November 16 - 18 on the waters of River Krishna in Andhra Pradesh. This highly awaited championship will feature teams from Amravati, along with seven other major cities from across the globe, such as the United Kingdom, China, Italy, France, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates.

The Formula 1 Powerboat Racing World Championship is making a grand comeback in India after 2004, an opportunity for speed aficionados to participate and engage in some adrenaline-pumping activities. The contest was won by Francesco Cantando of Italy in 204. This year, it was flagged off on May 18, 2018, and will end in Sharjah on December 15, 2018.
Sandeep Mandava, CEO India Extreme Adventure, said F1H20 is immensely popular all around the world and its popularity can be compared with the F1 motorsport. This endeavour is an attempt to to put India on the global sports map as well as help Andhra Pradesh Tourism and the state government.
F1H20 World Championship started in 1981 is the world’s premier international series of single-seater inshore circuit formula 1 powerboat racing. During the Grand Prix, each race lasts for around 45 min, which follows a circuit that is marked out in a selected stretch of water. It is the thrill of overcoming the challenging circuits on water that adds more adventure to it.

It is expected that this race will boost Andhra Pradesh Tourism and attract visitors and all those speed enthusiasts to the picturesque city of Amravati.
