Uttarakhand is set to go through some changes as thematic tourist destinations are being promoted to attract visitors to the lesser-known places. The state government of Uttarakhand is looking to promote 13 theme-based tourist places, one for each district. The announcement for the project is set for March 18, 2018, which also happens to be the day when Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat completes a year in office.
The 13 places are as follows – Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district, Kausani in Bageshwar, Katarmal in Almora, Mukteshwar in Nainital, Lohaghat in Champawat, Parag Farm in Udham Singh Nagar, Chopta in Rudraprayag, Tehri lake in Tehri, Khirsu of Pauri district, Chinyalisaur of Uttarkashi, Gairsain-Auli of Chamoli, Chakrata in Dehradun, and Piran Kaliyar and Shaktipeeth in Haridwar district.
Moreover, certain thematic tourist destinations have also been finalised, these include, Munsiyari and Mukteshwar where laser tourism has been finalised. Tea tourism is the theme is for Kausani, meditation for Katarmal, hill station for Lohaghat, and Parag Farm got amusement park. Eco-tourism has been chosen for Chopta, Tehri lake gets water-sports, while hill station and wildlife in Khirsu.
