Scheyville played host to various individuals, groups, projects and training center throughout the 20th century and even functioned as a military camp for some time. It also became one of the largest immigration hostels in Australia. Scheyville has a rich history of migrant settlement between 1949 and 1964 from more than 22 countries. Scheyville may be converted into a national park now, but the heritage sites still stand straight here, giving a glimpse of lost era. Residents came to the site during times of great change in their lives, especially during the Vietnam War, as Dreadnought Boys, post World War II migrants, and National Service Officers since the site is a legacy to them.
