If you've made it so far, you will know that Sri Lanka has a rich and diverse history. From remnants of the Chola dynasty to the European influence, you'll find it all in this island-nation. But where do you begin your quest? At the National Museum of course!
Built in a truly Italian style, the building is as pretty as it gets; on the inside are some priceless treasures. Give yourself plenty of time to take in the various centuries in Sri Lankan history. Admire the royal throne of King Wimaladharmasuriya, made in the 17th century. Don't miss the Bodhisattva sandals. There are also various arms and armaments dating back to the colonial era, ancient carvings and statues that you just have to stop and admire, as also paintings that show you what the country looked like, in centuries gone by. It's like taking a trip back in time.
