Like Mangalabaag Puja Pandal, the Jobra Puja Pandal has a ‘zari’ backdrop for its idols but the jewellery of the Goddess and other deities are excellent examples of craftsmanship. While the backdrop here is 19-ft-high, the tableau is 16-ft in height. Her jewellery has been designed with contemporary motifs as She is shown in her warrior form. Another highlight of the pandal is the participation of folk artistes from across the state on all the four days of festivity. Martial artistes are also roped in to perform dance forms like Paika Akhada, Ghoda Nacha, Dalkhai, Bagha Nacha and Chhau. Besides, thousands of devotees gather everyday to partake a special ‘bhog’ prepared with flattened rice and jaggery. This year, the puja committee is spending Rs 4 lakhs for illumination of the entire Jobra area during the puja. As many as five massive light gates have come up in the area and every nook and cranny is decorated with rice lights.
