If you happen to be flying from Don Muang Airport, check out the Royal Thai Air Force Museum that’s located just behind it. Not on most Bangkok to-do lists, the museum provides an interesting look at the history of Thai aircrafts. Plenty of well-maintained planes are displayed here. Seeing the progression of different plane styles through the years tells the story of aviation in the country.
Examples include uncommon aircrafts such as the singular Vought O2U Corsair, a classic Spitfire, and one of just several remaining Curtiss BF2C Goshawks. A highlight of the museum is the very first-ever plane made in Thailand during the late 1920s. Founded in the fifties, the museum is tasked with preserving these special planes and developing a larger collection. Even for those who aren’t necessarily impassioned about aircrafts, the museum serves to illuminate Thailand’s involvement in WWII. Head there between 9am and 4pm daily to witness this selection of machines from Thailand’s past.
