Pangot is a birder’s paradise, and its easy accessibility makes it the best birding site from Delhi. It is around 290 km from Delhi and about 15 km from Nainital. The well-paved road from Nainital to Pangot passes through the forested area of Cheena Peak Range that boasts rhododendron, deodar, pine and oak trees. Around 580 species of Himalayan birds have been spotted in Pangot and its surroundings. You can see a large number of birds here, such as Himalayan griffon, verditer flycatcher, blue-winged minla, woodpecker, khaleej pheasant and thrushes, among others. Hence, birders will undoubtedly have fun watching these beautiful creatures in this picturesque destination.
