Atameken is actually a huge map of Kazakhstan! It is a 200-metre long miniature version of the entire country. With over two hundred pieces of recreations of Kazakh cities and historical sites, one can easily walk around the map of the country. Make sure to visit the exhibition underneath the covered map of Astana. There you will find dioramas of Kazakh culture, industry and sports. During the summer months, there are usually English speaking guides available if you want to have a tour of the area. Make sure you keep your camera in your bag until you’re well past the ticket office.
