Affandi Museum, located about 6 km north-east of Malioboro Street, is dedicated to the most known local artist that developed a unique impressionistic style independently from the European masters. The Museum, housed inside his former house and studio, was designed by Affandi Koesoema himself and brings back to memory natural and organic notes. Nowadays, the body of Affandi is buried inside the complex, in one side of the courtyard with an incredible wooden sculpture overlooking it, one of the several on display at the Museum.

Several of Affandi's paintings from different artistic moments are exhibited in the Museum, and also his famous Colt Galant car, customized to resemble a fish, design that Affandi refused to sell to the producer.

Not only Affandi, but also his descendants are greatly skilled. In some of the galleries one can see paintings by his daughter and several other family members up for sale. Affandi Museum is located about six km north east of Malioboro Street, and while it's an oasis of peace and art, it is unfortunately overlooking a chaotic main road, connecting the city with its international airport.
