Situated at an altitude of 4400 m, Langza is one of the most beautiful villages in Spiti Valley. Driving through winding uphill road for around 13 km you will find yourself in a different world altogether. Rich pasture and green fields greet you if you are travelling in July/August. Besides you will be spellbound to see Chau Chau Kang Nilda, the tallest peak in the region covered completely with snow. First you come across Langza Yongma, the lower section of the village with just a few mud houses. Drive a kilometre further to reach Langza Gongma, the upper section. The population is not more than 150 people who are primarily dependent on agriculture. Stay in one of the homestays in the village to get an insight into the life of the cheerful hardworking residents. There’s so much to do in and around Langza, such as a visiting the 1000-year-old Lang Temple and exploring the fossils of aquatic flora and fauna dating back to the pre-historic era when the region was submerged by the Tethys Sea.
