The hamlet of Monterosso is a survivor. It is very much like a phoenix rising from its ashes. The only Cinque Terre village accessible by car, it is the farthest of them all from the town of La Spezia and is closest to Levanto. It is the resort town of Cinque Terre because of the wonderful beach it has to offer where you could perhaps rest under an umbrella and sip on a tall drink or two. This place also has quite a bit of a nightlife and decent options for accommodation unlike the four other villages. Another pearl that this beauty possesses is in the form of the many lemon trees it is fringed by. And then of course there are the quaint lanes and charming trattorias.
Getting there:
The fifth stop from La Spezia and the first stop from Levanto, the journey to this coastal village is respectively 25 minutes and 5 minutes long for those not hiking along the Blue Trail. And for those who are not proud possessors of a Cinque Terre card, tickets can be bought for a mere 2 Euros at La Spezia and for 1.5 Euros at Levanto or any of the other villages and must absolutely be validated.
