Leeds Cathedral, also known as St. Anne’s Cathedral, is known as one of the best Catholic Cathedrals in the country. The original building, first made in 1878, was demolished in 1900. The current building has been there since 1904 but was recently restored in 2006. The current plan is the work of a Leeds-born architect John Henry Eastwood, who specializes in Cathedral plans. While Leeds Cathedral isn’t one of the biggest in England, it is one of the most impressive. It occupies a position of pride in the Leeds Center and seems to watch over the daily lives of the residents of the city. The ornate and detailed interior bears testimony to rich British history and tradition and it is hard not to spend a couple of hours admiring the craftsmanship that must have gone into the making of this masterpiece. It has three choirs that perform in rotation. It’s definitely worth scheduling a visit around the performances. You will not be disappointed.
